Braintree is about 10 miles from Chelmsford in a straight line. Many people ask whether a blocked drain counts as an emergency.
A slow sink is rarely an emergency. Sewage coming up inside the house is different. It is a health risk and it spreads fast.
Before you agree who pays, read about shared drains and the CON29DW search. Before you ask for a repair, check common Saniflo macerator faults.
Treat it as urgent if sewage is coming up in a bath, shower or floor drain. Treat it as urgent too if a toilet will not drain and you have no other toilet. If the problem is only a slow drain, you can usually book a normal visit. Still, mark the request urgent if you are unsure, and say why in the message.
Stop using the toilets, sinks and washing machine, since every flush adds more water to the blocked pipe. Keep children and pets away from any sewage. Wear gloves if you must clean up, and wash your hands well afterwards. Also take a photo of the problem so the engineer can plan the job.

Ask for a written quote before work starts. Ask whether there is a call-out charge, since out-of-hours work can cost more.
You can also ask what cover comes with the work, since the answer varies. Get it in writing. For a wider choice, browse all drainage services.
Not always. Sewage inside the home, or no usable toilet, is urgent. A single slow sink, though, can usually wait for a booked visit.
Stop using water in the affected area and keep people away from any sewage. Take a photo to help the engineer plan the job. Wash your hands well if you touch anything dirty.
Fat and grease, wet wipes and tree roots are the usual causes. A damaged pipe can also catch waste again and again, because the rough spot never goes away. A CCTV survey can show the root cause.
You can send a request from any Braintree address, including Bocking and Great Notley. The engineer who takes the job will confirm whether they can attend.
